I was just thinking of the Violence of the gangs in Greater Vancouver area in the last few months. With daily shootings of rival gangs. And bystanders getting caught in the crossfire. Where and when will it end. The government are striking up task forces to deal with this.

I started contemplating what the bible says about violence and did a few bible searches ( I love computers for this fast task). Here are some I came up with, and what does it tell us. That doing things not Gods way has consequences. But if we follow the Lord as a nation there is hope. Like in Noah's day it was filled with violence , and So it will be in the day of the coming Lord. So it hasn't changed we need God's rescue.

Genesis 6
The Flood
Genesis 6:11
Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence.

Psalm 73:6
Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence.

Proverbs 13:2
From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.

Matthew 24:37
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

What do you think? Comments?

I think our government needs to rethink its position on the Bible in the classroom. We used to be a Christian nation. Now so many children know nothing about God or his commandments. Jesus said:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Gospel of St. Matthew 5:3-10

We are called to be peacemakers, meek and merciful. There is no blessing for violence.
