Not quite

Well this is the update of the horseshoe tournament.  A great weather day , usually when you start like this it wasn't a good horseshoe throwing day. But I did play fairly well.   In the "A" group I won my first 4 games with ringer percentage of  47,61,42,48.    Then the last game with a record of 4-0 against another player with 4-0 record, we had a very good and close match.  But unfortunately I didn't throw well in my last 6 shoes and then it was over.   We both threw 48% but he had a few more single points and It wasn't meant to be today.

Well next tournament will be July 9-10 in Abbotsford for the BC International tournament.   I better practice more so I can throw a bit better.

Ok till next time

Sparrow Update

Well this morning we saw the little sparrow hoping around among the plants.  It was getting the morning sun.  Mother Sparrow was coming down and feeding him. I'm assuming its a him and because he was found on the rocks the first time I named him Rocky.

I tried to get a nice picture of him but hes getting bigger and stronger in just one day and hopped away pretty fast.  But I did get this one picture.

We didn't see him at all the rest of the day or mom or dad flying down to feed him anywhere so I'm assuming he finally got wings and took to the air to join his brothers and sisters.

I know you were all cheering for him to make it through the night.  And he did.

Ok till next time

Eye on the sparrow

Can you see the sparrow in the first picture on the rock.  He must have fallen out of a bird house on the side of our house.  The mother flew down alot and fed him while the father would land and get him to chase him hoping he would fly or get to a safer spot.

He was on the rock for about 3 hrs today and then I found him on the sidewalk.  After a bit I looked again and he was no where to be found.  I think he found a bush to hid under.

He looks a little too young to fly, So hoping he can survive till hes big enough.  Don't want to handle him as I'm sure if you do the parents will not go near him with the smell of humans on him.   Feel sorry for the little guy.   If I see anything more Ill update you but If i see anything more I think it might be on the bad side of news.  Because if he flies I wont see him on the ground again and he will make it home safely.

Well hope it turns out little guy.

Somewhere

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout;
But there is no joy in Canuckville — mighty Canucks have fizzled out.

Yes the Canucks are finished for the year.  A good run but at the end the team was just a shell of the team that played all year. It was hard to see it end this year with 40 yrs of trying for the cup.  But overall it was a successful season.  The two things that bother me the most are

1. the refereeing of this series.  I think that this was a major factor effecting the canucks.  I believe in letting them play but I think this was a little over the line.

2. The aftermath in Vancouver with the rioting was just a small percentage of the fans.   Most are appalled at the behaviour.

But wait till next year.  Go Canucks Go

Odd Shot June 13

Well this weeks oddshot comes from about 3 weeks ago.  We were getting some tomato plants and a few others from a place that sells them out of their back yard.  They showed us a hanging basket in the greenhouse and the mother was flying around annoyed too.  Isn't it cute.   To see more odd shots visit  Katney's Kaboodle

Ok till next time,  and send me some oddshots I can use in future odd shot mondays

youtube

I was sent this link in a email.  Its some wild stunts done by some pretty brave people.  Don't think I could do even a quarter of them, or even want to attempt them.  Have a look

Game 5

This is 1/2 hr before the historic game 5 of this years Stanley Cup.  The canucks won the first two games at home, then went to Boston and got crushed 8-1 and 4-0.   Can the Canucks rebound.  Well I'm going with each home team has won each game.  If that holds then 2 out of the last 3 in Vancouver.  So that's my choice.

Been cheering for the Canucks now for 40 yrs I cant abandon them now.   Cheer with me for the Canucks

Go Nucks Go  Come on get back on the bandwagon ,  Lots of room

till after the game

busy tree

Visiting a favorite spot a couple of weeks ago we came across this buzzing sound as we walked by the beach.  After further inspection we saw that it was covered with many tiny holes.  I'm assuming it was mason bees.  It really was interesting to see and hear.   If you know this spot and Im sure quite a few of you know where it is by looking at the pictures check it out next time you are there.

 Ok where is it?

Canucks win game 1

Were you holding your breath in the third period of game 1.  Canucks scored with 18 seconds left to win 1-0 in game one of the Stanley Cup finals.
Well thats not the only thing people were holding. Check out the graph below.  It seems people are holding it till the end of the period before hitting the toliet.  This is water usage during the game in Burnaby , part of Greater Vancouver .

Enjoy the rest of the series.  And dont fortget to go to the bathroom before every period.
