I don't know if your like me, but it drives me nuts when I'm watching a TV show or sporting event on TV and you see the same commercial over and over again. I mean these companies have been making commercials for years and years, don't tell me they only have one commercial.
Commercials are suppose to intrigue you to buy the product. But with these same commercials 6 times during a 1 hr show, I'm not intrigued to buy the product. On the other hand I probably will not buy the product.
Now I know the value of getting your name and word out more than once. But does it have to be the same exact message each time. Why not 4 different commercials for the same product. Or I think this is a great way to do it is have say 4 commercials that run into each other in a certain order so you want to see how the next one turns out. Just don't keep putting on the same one over and over and over again. Enough !!

well Near Radium hot springs we encountered these big horn sheep. I guess it was rush hour on a Friday afternoon. Or were they just in the sheep lane (use to be called the bike lane but bikes aren't as common here in the winter.) They seem quite use to the traffic.
During our recent vacation in March thru the southeastern part of British Columbia we stumbled onto this flagship store and factory of Kicking Horse coffee. It was a very nice experience with all of us trying some different concoction of coffee or tea.
Also I purchased a hat and my son got a t-shit. This picture reflects the different beauty of this area that is so different from Victoria. I love the view of the mountains here with the grasses and boardwalk in the foreground. If your in this area check it out. It is located in the town of Invermere . We were on our way to Radium Hot springs. Now that was interesting too. I'll try and post about that soon too. Ok till then
I d0n't know if you can see by the picture but that's not all logs on the beach. There is an Elephant seal there too. This is taken at the famous willows beach in Oak Bay today. Apparently it is molting and its a normal process that takes about a month. I read a little flyer that the municipality had posted as well as the area was taped off with yellow do not enter tape. The seal will loose most of it's fur and skin and be in the process of growning new . It will flop around and cover it self with sand. A interesting sight to see, one i didn't expect to see.

Well just back from our trip out to see both our son's and their girlfriends. One was just engaged and the other one just got engaged yesterday . We look forward to adding two more to the family. Its always an exciting time when couples get engaged and start the planning process.
As for me Ill let them tell me where to be and what to wear, and yes I should sit there and not disrupt anything unless I'm told to do something. But as years go by it will be so nice to have to very beautiful ladies that I can call daughters (in law). We only have boys here so it takes a while to adjust to the ladies.
Well since both our boys and our nephew just had a birthday earlier this year we decided to go out for dinner together on this trip and celebrate. we went to a new restaurant in the area but I wont reveal the name for certain reasons. This restaurant had just opened and was quite popular but when we got there, we got to our table right away.
Our order was taken. Of 6 of us 3 got our meals first then the other 3 came a while later. One of the first one had a ice cold baked potato. One soup never showed up. So it wasn't going too well here. After the waitress made excuses and apologised we finally had the manager come to our table and say he was sorry. He came by again and said how sorry he was again for the mix up. Then the third time he said that he would pay for dessert for all of us. And top of that he was taking 50% off of the bill. So a bill that would have totaled $140 or more ended up costing us only $59.
So with that the manger said he wanted us to come back again and hoped we would. Well we didn't tell him we were from out of town. But it was a chain restaurant so I'm sure we will see that one again some time. After the generous offer I'm sure I would try it again. Not a bad celebration total anyway. We also did enjoy ourselves.
Well last blog I told you about the avalanche control delay we ran into on the Salmo Creston pass. Well another delay just a hour later. We were travelling to Cranbrook to meet up with my son and we had told him we were a hour away. Then all of a sudden another delay. What this time? The flag girl told us around the corner was an accident and that the delay would be at least 2hr wait. No phone service in the area. So no contact to tell my son that we were delayed yes again.
We took a walk to view the accident and there was a large truck that the driver had missed the curve and almost went over the steep bank. The only thing holding it there was the tires gripping onto the barrier to stop cars from going over the bank. As you can see the delay was not for the truck but for the tow trucks in the way. After the highway dept. spent a hour or more to asses the situation they finally called for a crane. They re hooked the truck with another tow truck from behind and cleared the way to release the traffic. All in all the delay was shorter than expected for us on 1 1/2 hrs.
Well this week our family was travelling in BC, to get together as a family. Of course we had a few interesting things happen. I will tell you a few in this and the next few blogs.
On one day we were in the town of Castlegar and woke up to snow. Of course we had to travel over one of the toughest mountain passes in the area. We checked the web cam on the bc highway web site and it was snowing quite alot. As not travelled that pass in the winter before I was a bit leary. Would we get stuck? Would it be closed ? and many other things passed thru my mind.
Well we started out. snow coming down a lot but we were still moving and not a lot of traffic. Now I'm wondering why not a lot of traffic. It was Sunday morning so I decided that was it not that it was unsafe. We made it to the top and what do we find but a line up before we head down. It just so happens that they are doing avalanche control and delays up to 2 hrs. So there we wait. Well it only took 1/2 hr and then we were let go. It went quite uneventful on the way down and that part of the trip was now accomplished. But there was a bit of nail biting and prayer as we were on the first part going up not knowing how bad it would get. But now that it was done. A piece of cake. Tomorrow I will tell you about a even more interesting event on that drive.
This is a series of blogs about sports equipment. Today I want to talk about baseball bats. Have you noticed last year and if you have watched any baseball this year that baseball bats are breaking at a alarming rate. Why? Why? Well I have listened to the experts talk about that they are using maple bats and it is different from the old bats. And that they have to find out how to hold the bat . Like in the old days you had the label up so the grain was correct as not to crack the bat. Now they say it has to be down or 33 degrees clockwise and all kind of different suggestions. But still lots and lots of bats breaking. And its getting dangerous.
Then I hear a really good commentary on how the ratio between the length and weight of the bat can not differ from 3.5 to keep the integrity of the strength of the bat. Well that sound good but then I hear that a lot of players are then shaving their bats at the handle for better grip and less weight. Of course the bat started with a ratio of 3.5 then became larger ratio because all of a sudden the bat weighs less. And you guessed it the bat is breaking. Well quit doing that . leave the bats alone. And the teams start telling the players not to do this. Or the league make it a rule that you cant do this.
What is everyone waiting for till someone gets killed with a splinter of a bat before they do something. Well that's my rant for today. till next time ......play ball !!
As a follower of a junior hockey team The Victoria Grizzlies. They play in the BCHL hockey league and are in the second round of the playoffs as I write this. As a matter of fact as I write this I am also listening to the game on the Internet. Junior hockey use to have games on the radio but now with the Internet I imagine its a lot cheaper to broadcast. The Grizzlies are leading the game being played in Duncan against the Cowichan capitals. The score is 1-0 for the Grizzlies and the series is tied at 1-1 with the Capitals winning the first one 3-2 and Victoria coming back in the second game winning 7-3. Well another odd shot. Is he dead or alive. Yes you guessed it just enjoying the sun. And yes he is dead now. After 17 years of faithful service he is no longer with us. He has been gone for a few years now but we have a few pics of him to remind us of the joy that he brought.
Today's Pet Peeve is about people that arrive late at an event and go right to their seat without checking to see if they are blocking someones view. You know at a hockey game it is common courtesy to wait for a stoppage in play before you go to your seat. Or even when they get there they are in conversation and take a longer than normal time to get into their seat. Instead the stoppage is over and they are still blocking someones view. One time at a hockey game we had a man stand in front of us and blocked our view. When asked to move he said he could stand there as he had a standing room ticket. Yea..... But that doesn't mean standing in front of someone else.
Or maybe even in a theatre they arrive late and look for a seat while they are standing in front of someone . Instead of standing at the back scouting out a seat and then going with out too much disruption to that seat.
One other common courtesy is in Church when someone arrives late and tries to find a seat in the middle of a prayer.
I'm sure you can think of others too but it all boils down to just being polite and not doing something that will interfere with someone else's view or enjoyment of the event. Do unto others what you would want done unto you. You get the idea.
What to read? Looking for a good book. Well here is the latest best sellers list fromt he New York times. I always like John Grisham, and I see that he has a few on the lists. Sport books always attract my attention too, Kinda wanna read the Yankee years. And Obama is hot topic now still. Ok what one catches your eye? leave a comment.

Well My team the Vancouver canucks did not make any trades on the trading deadline that past at 3pm est time today. The GM Mike Gillis explained that he doesn't like to give away 2nd round draft picks for players as that is how you build your future. You can read his press release on Canucks.com click on the link.
The big winner it looks like is the Calgary flames as they picked up a great goal scorer in Jokenin and some defensive help. Phoenix Coyotes were the big sellers as they traded a few of their top players and got back others and draft choices. check out all the moves just follow the link here.
Well tomorrow is the NHL trade deadline. It happens at 3pm est. The past 3 seasons have witnessed 25 trades as the contenders look for the missing piece to get them the Stanley Cup. And the lower teams trade personal that is deemed to be not needed as they are going in another direction( rebuilding with youth). There are 107 players in the league right now that have been traded in the 24 hr window of the trade deadline.
With my team as of now in the playoffs. I hope that the Vancouver canucks can acquire an top 6 forward and a good puck moving defenseman. With that said, I don't want them to mortgage the future by giving away too many prospects or draft choices.
Its an interesting time for fans and media to watch. But it must be hell on the players. Imagine having to up and move because someone else decided for you. And your family, especially your kids would not be impressed to leave their friends.

Well today is Sunday, and after church I'm sitting here thinking about what to write about today. Well this is what I thought. The bible has all kinds of interesting and exciting stories about how people interact with other people and how they interact with God too. So I was wondering what your favorite bible story was. Just click on the comments below this post and tell me. Is it the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. Or Daniel in the Lion's den. Maybe its David defeating Goliath. Or of Moses as a baby being put in the basket and hidden in the river. How about the story of Job. There are lots of stories about Jesus too. How he turned water into wine, raised someone from the dead, even Jesus discussion with the Samaritan women at the well.
